Sweet Baby Boy

September 23, 2009

I just can’t get enough of newborns. There’s just something about freezing those precious moments when they’re still so tight and curled up, and so new. They make sweet little noises. Their skin is so soft and buttery. And the joy and wonder is in the eyes of everyone around them.

I had found this basket in an antique store, and have been saving it for my next little boy newborn shoot. And then I met “Baby M.” – who looked just so handsome in it. Here he is…

Have you ever seen such gorgeous eyes??? You can tell she adores her sweet baby brother. Melts my heart.

So I’m on the phone with a friend of mine. My little sidekick is around me somewhere, and I don’t even notice how quiet it’s suddenly become. My first hint I had that he was up to something was a tickle in the back of my throat – what’s that — baby powder? Yup, I think it’s baby powder coming from somewhere. So I turn around and in mid sentence, my friend is tickled as I’m now cracking up. I’m trying to describe the sight before me – it looks like my child has just come in from a blizzard. And she’s a mommy. And she says – ok – stop talking and go grab your camera. And I’m so glad I did.

This first shot says a thousand words – which all kinda boil down to one phrase: “uh who… me?? Nothing – why do you ask??”

He gets a little more comfortable when he sees he’s got an audience who’s completely amused.

And now we’re really talking!!

I love my boys!!!!

Passing the Torch

September 14, 2009

I’m sure you remember Colby Dee. If you haven’t had a chance to view her original Post, scroll down two sessions ago (not too quickly – you’ve got to check out another of my favorite sessions posted earlier today of an amazing guitarist) and you’ll see why she’s unforgettable. During our initial session, we were hoping to get shots of her wearing her beautiful Tiara before she has to present it to the next Miss Capital City’s Outstanding Teen later this month (she was 1st runner up to the Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen this summer!), but we ran out of light too quickly with overcast skies. No matter – with our session continuation, we used a newly discovered field location that was just the perfect backdrop.

She looks like the beautiful princess that she truly is.

This last image brings back giggles. It took several takes, because we’d start shooting – I’ve got her back, she’s got mine – she’s got the whole sultry look going on, and suddenly I’d hear “CAR!” — and we’d start cracking up like little kids and running for the sidelines! We’d run right back, and get right into the runway look again, and seconds later we’re laughing and running to the side once again! You’d never know it by looking at this awesome image, though, and that’s what it’s all about!!!

Soulful Artist

September 14, 2009

This past weekend I met an INCREDIBLY talented young man. I’m asking him – “ok – just play a little while we grab a few shots here” – and an instant later, I’m secretly blown away as he starts creating this most amazing music, the world around him just gone. He is already a strong artist, destined for great things. If he’s this good at only 14, I can’t even wrap my brain around how far he’ll go. And here I am, so honored to artistically capture his musical passion.

The location, to me, was a perfect compliment to his artistic talent. It’s a little secret I accidentally stumbled across, and I’m in heaven here. I think it ROCKS, and I can’t wait to shoot many more sessions for those interested in a little creative impact. Here are just a few of my favorites:

All I can say is “WOW” — I met the most stunning and the sweetest young woman all wrapped up in one last evening! Colby Dee will be a household name in the next few years, right up there with Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. She’s a beautiful musical artist, well on her way to an amazing career. And I had the incredible experience of capturing her.

Here she is – simply, pure, and magical:

We’ll have another session next week, so stay tuned!

:) Kristin.
