I was secretly hoping it would be a boy. With two adorable older brothers who just love each other (see “Worth the Wait”, a Blog posting from March of this year), I knew he’d fold right in. They didn’t want to know. I never did either, and although originally I dreamed of dress ups, ballet recitals and that special mother-daughter bond, my heart can’t even imagine loving anything more than my three boys. We have a tight bond all our own, and they share a connection that I couldn’t even begin to put into words.

I love incorporating sentimental pieces into a Session, particularly a Newborn Session. It shows that even with the newness of life, there’s an underlying sense of history and tradition that makes their family unique. Sean’s Great Grandfather owned a milk company, and they had preserved one of their old milk bottles. Along with this antique scale I recently found, it was simply perfect.

Connor & Bridget

July 28, 2010

This precious brother and sister actually live in NYC and are here visiting their Grandparents over the summer. Their mommy heard about me through a good friend of hers (see “Teaparty for Two”, a Blog posting from April of this year). As it turns out, even with all the miles that separate us, Connor happens to be the Godson of my Cole’s preschool director (a FABULOUS school called The Spanish Academy – excellence in bilingual education for young children!!!). It never ceases to amaze me how small this world really is.

Bridget is just 6 months old. Gorgeous brown eyes, just full of dimples and rolls. When she smiles, her eyes smile too.

Believe it or not, she did this pose all by herself – a perfect little model!!

And here’s Connor – a bright and happy little guy. We loved going on adventures in the backyard together!! We spent quite some time at this brick wall, just listening. See, there’s a sweet little bird house on the top ledge of the wall, and he was sure he heard some tiny birdies inside. Con5

My Beach Boys

July 27, 2010

It was 5am last Friday, the same time I begin work every day. I like to edit first thing in the morning with a hot cup of coffee until the boys bring their sleepy summer heads downstairs. But as I sat there, it suddenly struck me that Summertime, my favorite time of the year, would be over before I knew it. How many more weekends would we have for a quick getaway to the beach? I grabbed my busy Session Calendar, flipped through the pages, and realized that last weekend was our only chance. I called my hubby, who’s always up for an adventure, and he was all for it (I love that about him!). And within 2 hours, I had booked two nights at the Gulf. We spent the rest of the day doing laundry and packing, and we were giddy about our spontaneous trip.

We really only had one day to enjoy, because by the time we fought weekend rushhour traffic outta Atlanta, we didn’t arrive till late Friday night. But that one day was totally and completely worth it!!! Every second of sitting in traffic, every mile we counted on the way there and back. Every penny spent on accommodations. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

There was absolutely no tar on the beach – it was beautiful. The surf was a little rough, just the way the boys love it!! Check out the Slideshow I put together of our day… the last part features just my little Cole. We snuck out of the house Sunday morning while everyone was still sleeping. The sun was just rising, and the beach was empty. He stopped to pick up a little seashell, and later looked at me through its little hole sculpted by waves as we walked the boardwalk back to our place. It was awesome. My Beach Boys

Avner & Alex

July 24, 2010

Avner is one of the little Fireman’s best friends (check out his Post below!). I had a ton of fun with him and his little sister Alex, and their sweet Mom & Dad. I LOVE this one with them all piled up in their bed, the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning…

A future Hero

July 19, 2010

Little Gavin just turned 3. For half his life already he’s been absolutely PASSIONATE about fire trucks. It’s a part of his little heart and soul. And his mommy honors this part of him – doesn’t discount it as a passing fling. In fact, she even held his Birthday Party at the local Fire Station – how awesome is that?!?? And it defined the foundation of our Session together. So I too had the privilege of honoring who he is and his sweet spirit. I love it!!

Aiden is a precious little baby, and although he slept almost the entire Session, I can already tell he’s going to have big, gorgeous eyes that will melt your heart, just like his beautiful mommy.
