Clara & Hazel

September 5, 2010

I always adore photographing this family. The first time was two years ago this month. Clara wasn’t even quite two years old – and I instantly fell in love with her big brown eyes, her soft whispy hair and her gentle nature. The second time was when Hazel was born, and one of my favorite images from that Session now graces the home page of my site — as Clara gently embraces her sleeping baby sister.

Their mom and dad are artistic and open minded. They have friends who own their own nursery/farmhouse out in the country. She described this special place as a possible option when we were first shaping this Session, and I was all over the idea. When we met last weekend to walk around the place before we began shooting, I literally had cold chills as I drank in the scenery. Everywhere we turned as we walked the property, we encountered rich textures with breathtaking patina. Old wood barns. Beautiful lawns. White pebbly rocks. Old painted doors. I was in heaven.

Hazel is now one, and I loved every moment exploring this old, country slice of heaven with these two beautiful sisters.
